The First Neuroscience-Based Program Integrating Arousal, Attachment & Sleep (AAAS Model)
May 29–30, 2026
Live Virtual Training
Investment: $599 USD
Early Bird Registration: $499 USD Deadline April 8th at 11:30 PM EDT
Trauma treatment has evolved—but many clinical models have not kept pace with emerging neuroscience.
While frameworks such as polyvagal theory have contributed to the conversation, recent scientific evaluations are calling for more accurate, evidence-based models of autonomic regulation and brain–body integration .
This has created a critical gap in clinical practice.
Sleep Repair for Trauma bridges this gap.
This training introduces a neuroscience-based approach that integrates:
Arousal regulation
Attachment dynamics
Sleep physiology
through the AAAS Model (Ascending Arousal, Attachment & Sleep Model).

Move beyond symptom management and begin addressing one of the most overlooked drivers of trauma:
👉 Sleep disruption and nervous system dysregulation
Learn how to:
• Break the insomnia–hyperarousal cycle
• Identify physiological barriers to recovery
• Integrate sleep repair directly into trauma treatment
This is a hands-on, clinically focused training.
You will learn how to:
• Conduct structured sleep assessments
• Analyze sleep patterns using clinical tools
• Screen for sleep apnea (including STOP-BANG)
• Apply CBT-I strategies for circadian regulation
• Retrain autonomic patterns using targeted interventions
You’ll leave with ready-to-use scripts, protocols, and tools you can apply immediately in your practice.
This training introduces:
Foundations of Neuromodulatory Intervention for Arousal, Attachment and Sleep Disorders in Trauma
Through the AAAS Model, you will learn how to:
• Understand the interaction between brainstem regulation and behavioral states
• Move beyond simplified autonomic hierarchies
• Apply a more integrated, physiology-informed approach to trauma care
Rather than relying on outdated or incomplete models, this framework reflects current understanding of autonomic regulation, respiratory–cardiac dynamics, and nervous system complexity.
This virtual training is designed for:
Therapists and counselors
Physicians and nurses
Allied health professionals
Case managers and rehabilitation professionals
Working with clients experiencing PTSD, chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, or treatment-resistant insomnia.
9:00 AM – 5:15 PM EDT
Day 1: Foundations & Screening

A Clinical and Health Psychologist certified in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, EMDR, and as a Clinical Trauma Professional, Dr. Reitav has worked with sleep disorders for over four decades and with medical trauma for the past two decades. Dr. Reitav was invited by the Ontario Ministry of Health to participate in developing Quality Standards for Insomnia Disorder, setting professional standards for assessment and treatment of Insomnia in the province. Drs. Reitav and Thirlwell have filled a gap in trauma treatment by targeting Sleep Repair as a previously unrecognized component of trauma recovery. Co-authors of Putting Trauma to Sleep, they developed the TABS model to translate complex sleep science into practical, clinician-friendly protocols.
A psychiatrist and sleep-medicine specialist trained in neurosurgery and neuroscience research, Dr. Thirlwell founded the Sleep Wake Awareness Program (SWAP). She has trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming (EMDR) and Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). She blends neuromodulatory modalities, medical cannabis, and mindfulness with evidence-based sleep interventions to treat sleep disturbances in people with complex trauma, PTSD, Post Concussion Syndrome, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue, and Fibromyalgia Syndrome. Drs. Thirlwell and Dr. Reitav have collaborated for close to 20 years in the intersecting fields of Psychotherapy, Sleep Repair and Medical Health.
