Dr. Jaan Reitav has devoted his career to unraveling the complexities of sleep and restoring its healing functions to those suffering from sleep disturbances. With a doctorate in Clinical Psychology focusing on dreaming and psychological defenses, Dr. Reitav has spent four decades in clinical practice addressing sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, pain, trauma, and chronic medical conditions. At the University Health Network - Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, he has worked extensively with patients recovering from cardiac events, cancer, diabetes, and strokes. A licensed Psychologist in Ontario, Canada, Dr. Reitav is also a professor at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and holds advanced certifications in Behavioral Sleep Medicine, EMDR therapy, and trauma treatment.

Dr. Reitav's contributions extend beyond his clinical practice to include authoring influential book chapters and developing national guidelines for integrating sleep management into cardiac rehabilitation. His workshops and clinical presentations in Canada and internationally have elevated awareness of the importance of addressing sleep disturbances in managing chronic health issues. His pioneering work includes a group program combining mind-body stress management with CBT-insomnia interventions and the publication of a clinical workbook to support patients with chronic health conditions. Most recently, his book Putting Trauma to Sleep synthesizes his insights into the role of autonomic nervous system dysregulation in trauma, sleep disturbances, and medical vulnerability, providing a comprehensive guide for both clinicians and patients.

Celeste Thirlwell, MD, FRCPC

Neuroscientist & Sleep Specialist

Dr. Thirlwell is a Doctor of Humanitarian Services and a student of consciousness both from the perspective of Western Medicine and Ancient Wisdom Traditions.  This fascination with consciousness and love for humanity led her to her studies in neuroscience, neurosurgery, kundalini yoga, and quantum physics. She has worked as a Psychiatrist and Sleep Medicine Specialist focusing on Trauma and Insomnia in the civilian, first responder, and veteran populations for over 25 years. She completed her Psychiatry training at McMaster University and Sleep Medicine Specialist training at the University of Toronto. She has presented nationally and internationally on Insomnia, Post Concussion Syndrome, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Moral Injury. She continues to search for innovative neuroscience-based strategies to optimize the care of her clients suffering from trauma and insomnia. Dr. Thirlwell incorporates innovative approaches such as yoga, MBSR, EMDR, medical cannabis, electromagnetic field modalities, and neuromodulation.
